The Need for CMAST Student and Faculty Housing
CMAST’s location on Bogue Sound and Carteret County, NC provides unique access to a wide diversity of coastal ecosystems and researchers, as well as exposure to high profile coastal management issues such as waterfront access and fisheries.
CMAST was envisioned as hosting rotating faculty from Raleigh’s main campus, supporting semester at the coast programs for our undergraduate and graduate students, and providing housing for our summer field courses targeting high school-undergraduate students.
Central to the research and education mission of CMAST is housing for visiting students, faculty and staff.
This vision cannot be realized because there is no student/ faculty housing at CMAST, and housing is extremely limited, cost-prohibitive, and located off-campus during the summer months.
CMAST has a beautiful piece of property adjacent to the main building and overlooking Bogue Sound on which the permitted and architecturally-designed Student/Faculty Center can be built.
There is a tremendous opportunity for a donor to secure naming rights to the CMAST Student/Faculty Center, as well as obtain substantial tax benefits, for helping to build this facility and realize our education potential.
Please contact the CMAST Director, Dr. David Eggleston (252-222-6301, eggleston@ncsu.edu), for more information regarding this exciting opportunity to help our students!
