CMAST is a university-owned facility that serves a research, education and public service mission. Conference and teaching lab rooms are available for public use on a first-come, first-served basis with the following restrictions:
- occupants of CMAST (NCSU, CCC, CES and NCSG) have first priority for use of conference rooms
- second priority goes to affiliated programs within the university or community college system
- outside groups may use rooms during normal business hours (M-Th: 8 AM - 10 PM with Carteret Community College security, and Friday 8 AM - 5 PM)
- use on Saturday and Sunday requires supervision by a resident agency
- food and beverages may be permitted on a case-by-case basis
